What is the difference between House League and Club Basketball?

Our spring league will start in March and will finish in June.  Excel Basketball is committed to providing safe opportunities to participate in the sport for all athletes.

One question you may have is, which program should I register my child in, House or Club and what is the difference?

Our House League allows players who are either new to the sport or athletes who want to continue to develop their skills and knowledge of the game.  Many kids love to play house league because they can play with their friends or peers from school.  Our Spring 2021 House League will provide players with the opportunity to have one practice and one game per week.

There are two key differences between House and Club League - time commitment and cost.  Our club teams play at a more competitive level and will play against other clubs in a safe environment in Calgary.  All COVID-19 safety protocols will be strictly enforced.  Club teams practice a minimum of two times per week, skills training and a weekly game.  Club teams will also play against other Calgary Club teams that are Alberta Basketball Association sanctioned including Calgary Minor Basketball Association (CMBA) organized tournaments  and Gen League.

Please note that all athletes must participate in Evaluations.  Club teams are limited in spots and players who do not get selected to play on Club teams will be offered a placement within the House League.

For the 2021 Spring Season our fees are being finalized, but here is an estimate:

House League: $550

Club League:    $825

(The season is expected to be at least 10 weeks for House League and 13 weeks for Club League, depending on provincial regulations.)

Playing Spring Basketball with Excel Basketball Academy is an excellent opportunity to get your child active, develop their skills and have fun.  All athletes will get a Excel Baskbetball Gear Kit included in their registration fee.
